Yesterday the Massachusetts Gaming Commission reported September Revenue for Wynn Resorts’ Encore Boston Harbor Casino (NASDAQ:WYNN).
The Gaming Commission reported Encore’s Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) at $46.1 million, the lowest since February 2021, just 8 months after Encore Boston Harbor reopened after the COVID-19 shutdown. GGR fell 22% compared to September 2025 and 26% compared to August 2026. The Massachusetts Gaming numbers offer the first window on the financial impact of the strike of 1,350 casino employees which began on September 4, 2026.
The Gaming Commission will discuss the financial impact of the strike at tomorrow’s (October 22) regular meeting, which can be streamed live starting at 10am Eastern Time.
The reported gaming revenues do not give insight into reputational issues that may have impacted the casino since the strike began. An analysis of average Google reviews shows that the casino has fallen from a 2026 pre-strike average of 4.46 stars to 3.87 stars since the strike began. For comparison, the Ritz Carlton Boston Common has average Google review of 4.4 stars, while the Hampton Inn on Boston’s infamous “Methadone Mile” has an average review of 3.8 stars. Encore bills itself as the largest five-star resort on the East Coast.
The Gaming Commission’s report also does not address potential ongoing operational issues including:
- Declines in revenue from closed or reduced hours at Wynn operated food and beverage outlets including the Forbes Four-Star Rare Steakhouse and Red 8.
- Reduced sales of items impacted by delivery trucks refusing to cross the Teamsters’ picket lines.
- The cost of police details outside the casino estimated at $200,000 a week.
- Impact on room revenue – guests have reported hearing strike noises on the 23rd floor.
Investors must now wait for Wynn’s Q3 Earnings Report on November 5 for additional details on the financial impact of the strike. Unfortunately, neither Q3 Earning or the Massachusetts Gaming Commission report will include any results from October 2026 all 21 days of which, so far, have been impacted by the strike.
